about klodt
I am an Associate Professor of Spanish Literature, Culture, and Film Studies at the University of Mississippi. I am currently researching and writing a book on the representations of youth in contemporary Spanish cinema.

I practice vipassana with the Just One Breath meditation group at Ole Miss.
I am a devotee of Spanish cinema (directors such as Julio Medem, Icíar Bollaín, Alejandro Amenábar) and contemporary literature (José Ángel Mañas, Lucía Etxebarría, Ray Loriga).

I was born and grew up in Ottumwa, Iowa. I earned by BA from Central College in Iowa, my Master’s Degree from Indiana State University, and my PhD from Michigan State University. In 1991 and 1992, I lived in Granada, Spain, and attended la Universidad de Granada. I have travelled extensively throughout Spain, as well as Portugal, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Costa Rica, and Mexico.

Over the last few years, I’ve spent quite a lot of time in Navarra and Euskadi. Kaixo Bilbo!

Numa is my ever-vigilant companion.
Finally, an admission: I am tormented by nightmarish visions of a dystopia in which Sandra Bullock commands thousands, even millions, of minions willing to do her bidding. And mediocrity reigns.
Hold me.
